started to wonder about the extent to which these activities are really appropriate
for something like a first year writing class, or *any* class that has the label
"writing" in it…. I don't know if we should be doing it, especially
in a class …that helps provide students with some fundamental skills in dealing
with the written word ….we are teaching a lot of students to be really
"visually sophisticated" but who still can't write decent paragraphs
and sentences and (God forbid!) "essays." -
