Reflective Hypertext Essay

I would first like to start off by saying that this has been one of the most challenging and yet rewarding classes that I have ever had the pleasure of taking.  I have learned a great deal of information from this class and had a lot of challenges, but through my experiences I feel as though I can be a better writer in the future.

I personally feel that writing is essential in everyday life.  I used to believe that knowing who to effectively write was a burden that I did not need, but now I no longer feel that way.  I now believe that I can use writing to help in all areas of my life such as academic papers, job interviews/resumes, and writing a persuasive speech on a topic that you feel strongly about.  I now know that with the use of writing it can make life not only easier, but can help to get my thoughts and views out for others to be able to understand.

The most challenging assignment for me in this class would have to be the Issues Paper.  I think that this was my most challenging work because I had to learn how to write by someone else’s guidelines using my beliefs and thoughts.  I also had a difficult time learning how to incorporate information from other sources and still maintain my own views.  I also had to learn how to support my thoughts with the proper evidence that my topic stronger and more effective, but the end result was a much stronger paper.

The most interesting assignment for me in this class would have to be the research assignment.  I was not only able to learn how to write an effective research document, but I was also able to learn information on a topic that I found very interesting.  I truly enjoyed this paper and after all of the research and hard work it made the end result even more rewarding.

While writing my Research Paper, I learned many things that included incorporating other source information and supporting my views with evidence.  After writing the paper, I had to change many things.  I had to work on the basic such as subject/verb use and punctuation as well as things such as sighting sources properly.  This was a great learning experience for me and it will take a great deal of future practice and effort to get it down.

Another paper that I completed during this semester was the Issures Paper. This paper enabled me to learn how to get my thoughts down to a specific local issue and be able to support my thoughts.  I had to revise this paper to support certain issues in my community and be able to give accurate examples and provide support for them.  This was my first paper of this type and was very challenging and a great learning experience.

My People Paper was probably the easiest that I have ever had to do.  I was able to do a paper on someone that means the world to me- my husband.  I had a great deal of inspiration with this paper and felt very strongly on the issue.  I had to revise the paper to incorporate names so the paper did not seem too widespread.  I had to also learn not to get carried away on one particular subject and run off course.  This was a fun paper though that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I enjoyed using the discussion boards for this online class as well as the virtual classroom.  I still enjoy a person-to-person concept, but this enabled me to have more time for other classes.  I do feel as though with the use of the computer resources it almost makes the class a computer learning experience as well.

My own assessment of myself as a writer seems to change from day to day. I feel as though I have a lot of good strengths in that I try to write on topic that I feel deeply about and this helps to keep the paper going.  I also know that I have a lot of areas of improvement that go from basic punctuation to sighting sources.  Thanks to this class I do feel as though I am better prepared and I am more knowledgeable.  I now feel as though I have the tools to get the job done, but it will take time and practice to know exactly which tools to use when.
