Curriculum

     Although I have been teaching French locally for the past 4.5 years and  would love to continue to do so, I would like to do it while pursuing another degree. Ideally, it would be a degree for which I would study the use of the Internet in teaching French. It would also involve the study of the impact of summer immersion French programs for disadvantaged children. I am writing a grant proposal to seek funding. 

Secondly, I have many files and folders of writing I have done over the past fifteen or so years. My goal would be to learn how to put it all together to make it attractive to a publisher. Although I have several friends who have done this, I never have had the time. I just enjoy writing, and have had many interesting life experiences which may be of help or of interest to others. That is a dream goal which may or may not come to pass. The education would be non-formal, but very necessary.

Finally, I have enjoyed working with a local high school debate team for several years. If I get a chance to assist another teacher in helping students develop the skills needed to debate successfully, I would be thrilled to work under a master. This has been of interest to me for some time, having had to teach it back in 1978. The research topics are of global interest, though concentrated on what our federal government should or should not do. I love to hear the ideas  of the students and their defense thereof. I would like to tie in the debate to French, having the advanced French students  work in their target language.

I obviously hope to remain active in education, but plan to retain my Associate Broker's license to sell real estate which I did for thirteen years full-time. It is never a good idea to let go of such a valuable asset. I stay current by working as REALTOR support for some of the top agents in Tidewater, and taking classes when helpful. I don't actively seek new business other than a few mailings to acquaintances. It is nice to be able to help my friends who want a low-key helper. It is an interesting and useful profession. It can be most helpful.
 

Career

     My most important career currently is being a mother to two active teens, and trying to find quality time to be family, yet keep all the bills paid. We are all busy, but try to take time to love each other in the many small ways that count. My plans are to continue that roll for life to the best of my ability.
     Secondly, I plan to remain active in some kind of teaching, whether it be in French or in Real Estate. I have been asked to teach some Principles of Real Estate, and have been certified and asked to teach ethics. The pursuit of either requires continual education,  which I happen to love.  Several private schools have asked me to begin a French program, also very appealing.
     I do not plan to put a resume on the Internet, but will be actively pursuing a job in another city within the next several years. I have all the necessary requirements documented along with a personal portfolio of experience.
     Health issues have recently necessitated a daily exercise regime, which I enjoy. Water exercise is gentle and soothing. In younger days, I had a little AerobiDance business. Maybe there is some water exercise to be taught. 
     Time will reveal the mystery and adventure that lie ahead. I hope the educational goals discussed above will come to fruition in an interesting and worthwhile fashion. All will involve technology to be sure!

College Activities

I do not currently belong to any clubs at TCC. Time constraints make it impossible.  However, I do know the French instructor at the Beach Campus, and have seen her occasionally at meetings of the local Alliance Française. I occasionally participate in this organization.
